Metro LatAm 2016 - From the Infrastructure Conference Network

This event ran April 26-28, 2016 and has now finished.

Metro de Medellin will lead guests an exclusive site visit to provide first-hand insight to how the metro has integrated multiple transport solutions within the network; the challenges they have faced, the solutions they have developed and the technology they have deployed to Medellin one of the most advanced and innovative transport centres in Latin America.

Metro de Medellin will provide complimentary travel cards to all attendees for the duration of the conference, allowing you to explore the city once the technical site visit is over.

Guests will be collected from the hotel at 10am on Thursday 28 April, and will be taken to Poblado station, where they will travel on the metro with experts from Metro de Medellin.

Experts will explain how San Antonio station has been developed as a central hub station, with links to the second metro line as well as providing an integrated link to the cities new Tram network.

Visitors will have the chance to travel on the Metrocable, a true innovation and the first in the world to provide commuter transport to residents of previously excluded neighbourhoods. Metro de Medellin engineers will talk through the development of this network, future expansion and how this has also been integrated with conventional metro and tram.

Attendees will then be taken to the San Antonio Metrocable station, where they will be able to travel to Parque ARVI via cable car. This is a further innovation from the metro, which allows urban residents to escape the city on a brisk 20-minute cable car ride over tree tops to a natural park.
